Leave Anzac Day Alone
April 29, 2007
Thanks to the Essendon and Collingwood football clubs Anzac Day at the MCG is nothing short of awesome. Every year, no matter where the teams are on the AFL ladder and regardless of the final score, come the 25th of April you can be assured that the footy itself will epitomise the spirit of the brave men and women who fought for our rights to collectively enjoy and exercise our freedom. The day itself and the growth it has experienced since its inception would not be the same if it were not the Dons and the Pies. [Read more]
Round 5 Preview & Selected Teams

Wednesday, April 25
Essendon v Collingwood (MCG) 2:40pm
This game could be as dull as bathwater for most of the footyballing community but for the benefit of those Essendon and Collingwood supporters, I will give a little preview.
The Sherminator’s are back on track with a 3-1 start to the year and the Wobblies wouldn’t be too disappointed with it’s start, given the horrendous injury list it is enjoying at the moment.
There is only one unknown in this match, and that is Alan Didak. Last years B&F winner should play, but given his limited preparation after his knee injury, his ability to perform is the only thing that will alter the natural course of this match. [Read more]
The Week That Was – Round 4
April 25, 2007
Round four was one of mixed fortunes for me personally. The Saints loss saw me kitted out in Bombers gear on air Saturday Night and admitting my love for Courtney Johns but it also saw a return to form in the footy tips. The team of the week is back with two sets of brothers, I take a look ahead to ANZAC Day and a look back at some of my favourite names from footy. [Read more]
Round 4 Preview & Selected Teams

RICHMOND v WESTERN BULLDOGS,
MCG @ 7:40pm
These two teams have so far been two of the big disappointments of 2007. Richmond is yet to open its account, despite being in the situation where they could have won all three games. Footscray on the other hand has been outplayed significantly in the games it has lost and is struggling.
It’s an understatement to say that this game needs to be won by both teams. The question remains as to how each club might win it. [Read more]
The Week That Was – Round 3
April 18, 2007
Round three of the AFL was another interesting week. My tipping was again spectacularly unsuccessful but by this stage everyone should be getting used to it. As usual I name a team of the week plus I’ll take a look at the issue developing between Des Headland and Adam Selwood and give my take on how rivalry round should be run. [Read more]
Don’t Worry Big V, we’re on our way
April 16, 2007
Don’t Worry Big V, we’re on our way, thats the message that the former Victorian powerhouses are sending to the rest of the competition. At least on the back of the promising efforts of a crop of youngsters playing for Victorian teams on the weekend. [Read more]

The Week That Was – Round 2
April 9, 2007
Round two of the AFL season was another very interesting week of footy with more surprises and some continued good form from the Bombers and the Lions. The Tomahawk made a stunning debut and the umps had a change of opinion on the holding the ball rule. As usual I’ll name my team of the week, take a look at my tips and look at a few other things that grabbed my interest in round 2. [Read more]
What to expect in 07
April 5, 2007
Round 1 has come and gone and as per usual there were plenty of upsets. However don’t take round one as a sign for what you can expect from here on in. Last season both Carlton and Essendon won in round one and we all know how downhill it went from there. Sydney started poorly and fell one point short of a another premiership. [Read more]
Get on with it Laidley

CONTROVERSY is what makes sport. It is what gives thousands of journalists around the world a job, and in a sense, creates the sport itself. For you see, if there was no controversy, the sport itself would not be popular; there would be no fans and therefore no living to be made from playing. [Read more]
