Cracking the Crystal Ball
May 29, 2007
I have been on the receiving end of a deserved amount of criticism following the publishing of my Crystal Ball series. I have little to draw upon to form any sort of defense considering how wrong I have been with my predictions for certain teams in the AFL for season 2007. However, I thought to myself that I must have been correct about at least some of them, well a few of them, well maybe one or two. So it’s grading time, over a third of the way through the season, time to assess whether or not I am currently passing the stringent exam, have I scrambled in for at least half giving me a 50% pass grade? In this Crystal Ball review I assign a pleasing tick or disappointing cross to each of my sixteen foretellings. [Read more]

Cuddles Connolly ducks the chutney on discipline
May 24, 2007
Fremantle coach Chris Connolly has a strange way of ‘moving on quickly’ from the club’s latest poor result at the Match Review Panel when Josh Carr was suspended for a week for striking Cat Steve Johnson during last weekend’s match down at Geelong. [Read more]
Didn’t See The Saints? Lucky You
May 22, 2007
It surely is a sad state of affairs when the best decision you can make for the weekend is to go to the movies to see Eric Bana in “Lucky You†rather than watching the footy. For a long time the footy at the weekend has been a staple part of my visual diet, but on the weekend just past, I found it to be time to fast. [Read more]

Adelaide v Richmond
AAMI Stadium @7:40pm
Did the Tiger stay in Adelaide for the whole week to acclimatise itself after last weeks drubbing at the hands of Port. It should have although even an extra week amongst the Crow-eaters (should there be a hyphen in that?) wouldn’t do much for Richmond’s chances this week. [Read more]
Poor White Maggots
May 18, 2007
Australian Rules Football has many long standing traditions. Two of the most publicly exercised are hating Collingwood and criticising umpires. Although there is nothing the AFL can do to address the first, the league has embarked on many crusades to protect and sustain the lifespan and sanity of its men (and women) in white. So why is it that in this modern age of stemcells and plasma screens that fans’ frustrations are still at an old-school premium? The answer is simple, unlike the sport’s rules. [Read more]

Kangaroos v Essendon
Telstra Dome @ 7:40pm
So Bachar Houli is being congratulated on being the first Muslim to play footy at the highest level. Big Frigging Deal! It is this very delineation of cultures that is the reason for racism in the first place, not the other way around. Anyway, when is Luke McPharlin going to be applauded for being the first Baha i’ to play AFL Footy? When that happens I will shut up! [Read more]

St Kilda v Carlton
Telstra Dome @ 7:40pm
The big talk around town regarding this game is who will match up on the respective full-forwards. For mine, the big question will be “Which Brendan Fevola chooses to show up this week?â€
If it is the petulant, immature, childish clown who played last week then Carlton is in for an absolute hiding, reminiscent of its last 5 matches against the Saints who average a 93 point victory over the Blues in that time. If it is the penitent, admonished focused forward that SHOULD be playing after a Denis Pagan bake this week then many believe the Blues actually have a chance. [Read more]
