Telstra Dome a sell-out? You bet it is!
June 29, 2007
On June 15th, 53459 buoyant Carlton and Hawthorn fans converged on Telstra Dome to set a new record for the venue. This Sunday, Hawthorn play traditional crowd pullers Collingwood in what has been billed as the match in the round in a game that will attract even more spectators. The only problem is, the fans won’t be there to see it. [Read more]

Friday 29 June
Essendon v Melbourne,
Telstra Dome @ 7.40pm (AEST)
Hmm… just an added bit of spice in this game. It WAS looking like another easy Bombre victory (although I tipped the Dees in the podcast) But now with Daniher’s resignation, and rumours RIFE about his heir-apparent beginning during his media conference thanks to the bozo’s at the Bostonian and SEN 1116, well this game takes on an extra bit of grunt. Harvey Hits 350
June 26, 2007
Words cannot describe how happy I was last night as I watch my beloved Saints get a win against the Eagles in Perth. St Kilda was just the second Victorian Team to win in the last sixty attempts at Subiaco against the Eagles and as impressive as that statistic is, it meant nothing when compared to the pride and elation I felt as Robert Harvey put on a show in his 350th League game and the Saints came marching in for him. Polly’s Ponderings - What’s the Point?
June 16, 2007
Written by Polly form FootyTalk.com.au
A much-lamented aspect of our great game is the art of goal kicking, universally recognised as the only part of the game that hasn’t improved over the past 40 years (though plenty would suggest that umpiring may also fit that criteria). Watching Travis Cloke shank a set shot from 15 metres out on the weekend only confirmed for me what I already believed - we let players off the hook by providing a reward (1 point) for failing to achieve their objective. This article raises the question of why we need points and proposes a new system to replace them. [Read more]

Carlton v Hawthorn
Telstra Dome @ 7.40pm
The rumours abound that Boyle and Croad are unlikely to play. Will it change the outcome of the game if they don’t?
After their respective pathetic performances last week, you would have to say no but as both are quality players on their day the chances are they wouldn’t have two bad ones in a row.
It has been all over the medja lately - the fact that Carlton is the 2nd highest scoring team in the comp. My only comment would be that it doesn’t mean a hell of a lot if your opposition are scoring MORE than you. Still the Blues are playing a lovely brand of footy and it is a pleasure to watch, more so than Hawthorn’s LRB version of the game. [Read more]
The AFL Half Time Review
June 13, 2007
After what has been a very enjoyable, but at times frustrating, first eleven weeks in the AFL it is time to roll out my mid season awards. No doubt I will be called out by many but as always you are welcome to have your say and give your nominations for the players that you think are deserving of the following gongs. [Read more]
Lucky Bombers, Unlucky Fans
June 10, 2007
I’ll admit that my beloved Bombers have been rather fortunate of late with some of the recent matches they have been able to come away from with victories. The second last placed team from last season have managed to be competitive throughout some hard fought contests to find themselves in winning positions. Despite the undeniable improvement of Essendon’s on-field performances the post-match focus (on more than one occasion) has been aimed at controversial umpiring interpretations that have been said to have assisted the Dons in getting the four points.
