Fixing Footy For the Fans
The AFL needs fixing. Despite what the spin doctors at league headquarters might tell you there are a few big issues that our great game is facing. Rather than throw rocks, as many people are prone to doing, I have decided to become pro active and offer my simple five point plan on how to fix the AFL and get it right for the fans. So Andrew if you’re reading this, take it on board, and do something for the fans for a change. (more…)
Round 17 POTW: Brendan Fevola
Brendan Fevola is well known for being a superstar footballer who continues to let himself down on and off the field with his poor attitude and behaviour. However in this weeks Play of The Week we get to see some of Fev’s brilliance. I couldn’t split two of his goals so i added them both! Brendan can lift a team by his own actions and on Saturday against the Saint’s he did just that, kicking 3 early first quarter goals. People constantly criticize Fevola for dropping his head and not putting in the effort if thing aren’t going his way but these two goals certainly show what he can achieve when he does put in the hard yards and apply pressure. Congratulations Brendan on two fantastic goal’s who knows you might just win a brand new Toyota for your effort! Continue reading for the video… (more…)
Round 17 Preview and Selected Teams
Time constraints have meant that I have had to do the previews as a podcast this week. It will be interesting to see how it goes. While it is completely different than bouncing information of a co-presenter, (and can get a bit repetitive until I find out where to locate a thesaurus to look for big words) I hope that you enjoy the inaugural “previews podcastâ€. Pagan’s Empty Paddock
Denis Pagan is now a shepherd without a flock. It is surely an unfamiliar situation for the two-time Premiership coach who has been steering football clubs at the highest level since taking over from Wayne Schimmelbusch in 1993. They say certain events occur in threes, and it appears Pagan’s exit from Carlton is the conclusion to the trio. However, Pagan’s scenario is considerably different to that of Chris Connolly departing Fremantle and Neale Daniher moving on from Melbourne. Denis Pagan is leaving his most recent club without experiencing any real success. (more…)
Round 16 POTW: Michael Newton
Young gun Michael Newton launches himself above team mate and captain David Neitz to take a spectacular pack mark which i consider i shoe in for Mark of The Year. In only his 4th game he has already secured a memory he will never forget, not to mention a brand new Toyota in his driveway at the end of September! The only real mark that can contest to this is Mark McVeigh’s screamer in Round 3 against Carlton which was paid however under the new hand in the back interpretation should have been deemed illegal. Also the courageous Jonathan Brown mark will be considered but in my opinion as an AFL fan we love a screamer and that’s why Newton will bag the 2007 AFL Mark of The Year. (more…)
