Choco Williams deserves a hell of a lot of credit for what he has been able to do. For any football fan, Grand Final week should be the pinnacle of supporting your club. When the Cats are on TV I ride every bump, curse every maggot and scream and yell and damage the furniture for two hours
while my beloved Cats do battle. Normally I am quite a mild individual but I turn, dare I say it..feral when my Cats lace up. However being a Cats fan, my only memories of Grand Final day are of extreme disappointment. [Read more]

James Bartel wins the 2007 Brownlow Medal

James Bartel has won the Brownlow Medal for season 2007. The Geelong midfielder has topped of his spectacular season by winning the Brownlow by an amazing 7 votes ahead of Brent Harvey, Simon Black and Daniel Kerr who finished equal second on 22 votes. Bartel was literally lost for words when the results were confirmed at the conclusion of round 20 when he polled 3 votes against the Kangaroos. Team mate Gary Ablett Jnr. who was favourite for the medal going into the night finished 4th on 20 votes. [Read more]

Clement’s retirement shocks Pies

Collingwood veteran and vice-captain James Clement has shocked the club by announcing his retirement after the teams’ preliminary final loss to Geelong. His decision stunned the board and coaching staff who had no idea that the star backman had any plans of retirement. The 31 year old missed a large chunk of the 2007 season after tearing his calf in Round 6. He played just 13 out of a possible 25 games. It is believed that Clemtent wanted to focus on his family life and his career outside of football and that he wanted to leave football while he was still needed. [Read more]

Port power into the grand final

Port Adelaide have claimed their place in the Grand Final after handing the Kangaroos an 87 point thrashing. In a complete one sided game it was Port who got off to a good start yet they were matched with the Kangaroos for 20 minutes in the first quarter. It wasn’t long before Port Adelaide put there foot down and never looked back. Port were dominant all over the ground and were playing like a a premiership team. [Read more]

Geelong are into the Grand Final after defeating the Pies in a 5 point thriller at the MCG. 98,000 fans turned up to to the preliminary final and were hopeful to see a good game and that they did. Whilst Collingwood fans may be disappointed at the final result they can be proud with what there team has achieved this year. [Read more]

Judd meets Carlton

To kick off his busy schedule whilst in Melbourne, Chris Judd today had a meeting with a surgeon and then began the process of meeting several Melbourne based clubs which will help Judd in making the decision on who he wishes to play for in 2008 and beyond. Carlton was first on the list and they went all out in their attempt to win Judd over. Chris met with Carlton president Richard Pratt at his Raheen mansion. He then met with his manager Paul Connors at the club and had a meeting in the board room with Greg Swann, Steven Icke and Brett Ratten. Judd was then given a tour of MC Labor Park and the football department by CEO Greg Swann. [Read more]

The stage is set for the Cats and Magpies on Friday night with a sold out MCG playing host to this huge preliminary final. Semi Finals POTW: Aaron Edwards

North Melbourne went into the game after being punished in a 106 point loss to Geelong the week beforehand. With the odds against them as took on Hawthorn they needed to come out with all guns firing and one man certainly did. Early into the first quarter it was clear the Kangaroos meant business and were on course to cause an upset. However in years from now if anyone will remember the game it won’t be because of the upset caused by the Roos, it will be remembered as the day Edwards took a screamer over his own team-mate in Drew Petrie. Unfortunately it won’t be remembered as mark of the year, due to sponsorship by Toyota marks taken in the finals series are ineligible for mark of the year because the winner is chosen before Grand Final day.
