Bad night for players at tribunal

Dean Solomon and Cam Howat have both failed in their attempts to clear their names for reports made against them during the first round of football in 2008. Solomon turned down a one match suspension with an early guilty plea and decided to fight it knowing what would happen if he failed to win, Solomon will now sit out for two matches and miss the all important derby against West Coast in round 3. Cam Howat also failed to win his case for an off-the-ball striking charge which resulted in a three week suspension rather than two which he could have received with an earlier guilty plea. Howat was reported after an incident involving himself and Carlton’s Adam Hartlett. The video footage was inconclusive but the force of the strike was enough to send Hartlett to the ground and left him with concussion. Less than two minutes after the Howat incident Hartlett sort revenge and took out Howat in the centre of the MCG in another off-the-ball incident with what appeared to be raised elbow to Howats face. Hartlett was offered two weeks with an early guilty plea and accepted it.
