BREAKING NEWS – Richmond have thrown Ben Cousins a lifeline by selecting him with their only pick in today’s Pre-Season Draft. The decision to take Cousins comes less than 24 hours after Craig Cameron, Richmond’s general manager of football, announced that it would be “Highly unlikely” they would select Cousins after their application to move Graham Polak to the rookie list which would allow Richmond to have an extra pick in today’s draft. Yesterday passionate supporters of the club gathered at Punt Road to encourage the club to take Cousins. The ongoing support from Richmond fans to recruit Cousins appears to have played a big role in the decision, it was reported elsewhere that club directors and staff made the decision just after 10PM last night after numerous phone calls and meetings. More news on today’s events to come. Pre-Season Draft #1 Melbourne – Liam Jurrah #2 Port Adelaide – Josh Carr #3 Essendon – Hayden Skipworth #4 Carlton – Chris Johnson #5 Brisbane – Tom Rockliff #6 Richmond – Ben Cousins
