Swan takes out Brownlow

Collingwood superstar Dane Swan has posted a record 34 votes to take out the 2011 Brownlow Medal.

The 27 year old, who started his career at Westmeadows and the Calder Cannons, polled consistantly throughout the night, winning by 4 votes.

Hawthorn midfielder Sam Mitchell finished with the second most amount of votes (30) despite being ineligable after being suspended  in Round 5.

Nick Dal Santo was the surprise packet of the night polling 28 votes to finish third overall.

The two favorites going into the night failed to make the top 5 with Chris Judd and Adam Goodes finishing 6th and 12th respectively.

After making his debut in 2003, Swan has played 173 for the Pies and has been one the highest possession getters over the last few years.

The midfielder went in to last years Brownlow count as hot favorite but finished third behind stars Chris Judd and Gary Ablett Jnr.

Swan will play in his second Grand Final on the weekend and will be an integerul part of the Magpies side if they are two go back-to-back after last years victory over the Saints.
