Sydney star Adam Goodes will miss the next 6 weeks of football after tearing his quad muscle in Saturday nights narrow 5-point defeat against the Crows.

Goodes left the ground 5 minutes into the final quarter on Saturday night and failed to return to the field.

At 32, Goodes has been one of the most durable players in the competition having only missed one (to suspension) game since a groin injury kept him sidelined in 2008.

In what was a potentially game changing injury on Saturday night could now effect the Swans season with fellow tall Shane Mumford still set to miss at least 2-3 weeks with a back injury.

The Swans sit on 5 wins and only the one loss for the season and will face Richmond, Melbourne, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs and Essendon before seeing the bye in Round 12.
