After a poor five disposal game in last weeks belting at the hands of St Kilda, North Melbourne skipper Brent Harvey has responded with a career best 44 disposals to help the Roos to their first win over the season West Coast at Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

AFL Rd 3 - Kangaroos v Eagles

The Kangaroos got out to a 14 point lead in the first term, almost kicking more than they scored in last weeks game, but the Eagles kicked the final three goals of the term to four point lead into the first change.

North applied the pressure in the second quarter, but some inaccurate kicking prevented them from putting their opposition out of the contest. The kept the Eagles to just one goal for the term, giving them a handy 19 point at the main break.

The game opened up in the third term, as the goals flowed from both sides, but once again the Roos wayward kicking kept West Coast in the game. North booted 5.5 as the Eagles made the most of their opportunities going forward, Mark Le Cras fifth goal helping them to an accurate 5.1.

With the 23 point deficit the Eagles had most of the attack in the final term, but their accuracy eluded them booting 1.7 endingĀ  any chance of a comeback. When Sam Wright goaled to stretch the margin to 27 point midway through the quarter the Eagles couldn’t recover as the Roos were home.
