Power big man Chad Cornes has announced that he will be out of the rest for the season after opting to undergo surgery on his shoulder, knee and finger to be right for the 2009 pre-season.

After struggling with a number of injuries for much of the season Chad last week told Power coach Mark Williams that he probably only had one game left in him and that he was eager to play in the Showdown against arch rivals Adelaide.

“He wants to play and he wants to make a difference, but his body probably didn’t allow him to do anything near what he’s capable of doing” Williams said on Monday.

Although not finding much of the ball Cornes managed to shrug off a tackle in the dying minutes to help set up Danyle Pearce’s match winning goal.
