With Demons Ricky Petterd and James Strauss due to undertake fitness tests this week ahead of their possible return, a number of Melbourne players remain on the ever-growing injury list.

Twenty year old mid-fielder Jordan Gysberts is the latest Dee to be injured during a VFL match for Casey last weekend. Gysberts is expected to be out for four to six weeks due to an ankle injury he sustained during the game. Manager Josh Mahoney praised the 2009 draft pick on his good start to the match especially the tackling pressure he applied.

Gysberts’ injury comes as several other players remain on the bench including Lucas Cook, Max Gawn, Neville Jetta, Liam Jurrah, Jake Spencer and Colin Sylvia.

Mahoney confirmed on the Melbourne Football Club website that Petterd is being considered for the game this weekend against the Eagles and if training goes well this week he should be set to return. He supported this by saying that Petterd was close to being selected for last week’s game against the Lions.
