It’s official, Chris Judd will captain Carlton in 2008. The decision was made over last nights board meeting and was announced at a press conference held at MC Labor Park this afternoon. It was all announced that Nick Stevens will be vice captain. The announcement has come after months of speculation as to who will captain the Blues. The issue caused an uproar when it was reported Carlton offered Judd the captaincy in order to lure him to the club, the problem being Lance Whitnalls career had yet to be decided.

Judd, 24, captained the Eagles for two seasons and led the club to the 2006 AFL Premiership. although battling with a groin injury Judd should be available for selection in Carlton’s round one match between Richmond.

Speaking at the press conference Chris said “I guess i just felt that it was a huge privilege to captain this club, obviously i haven’t been here for a long time but I’m looking forward to a long union with the footy club and the leadership group and with Nick”.

Stevens who also spoke at the press conference admitted he was a little disappointed not to be appointed captain although conceived that he couldn’t have lost it to a better man.
