A melee broke out at half-time during the Collingwood versus Richmond match on Saturday night at the MCG. In the aftermath, players from both teams have received fines to the total value of more than $13,000.

Of the seven players who were booked, Tiger Alex Rance received two fines. The first was issued to Rance as the instigator of the brawl which has cost him $1800 and the second for participating in it worth $1200. From Richmond, Jake Batchelor ($1200), Jake King ($3000) and Shane Tuck ($1200) were also fined for their behaviour. This is the third time King has been involved in such an altercation, which explains the hefty punishment.

Collingwood’s Dayne Beams ($2100), Darren Jolly ($1200) and Heath Shaw ($2100) received financial penalties for the roles they played in the fight.
