The number one pick joins David Rodan, Sam Blease and Daniel Nicholson on the omitted list while Tom Gillies will also miss with a groin injury.
The Demons host the Eagles on Saturday who are also yet to register a win this season. They welcome back Daniel Kerr and Mark LeCras at the expense of Bradd Dalziell and Brad Sheppard (shoulder).
Collingwood lose skipper Nick Maxwell who is set to miss 2 months with a fractured wrist. Darren Jolly is yet to recover from a rib injury and will also miss their clash against Hawthorn on Sunday.
