Ouch, Hasleby out for the season

Paul Hasleby’s season has finished before it even started after injuring his knee is Sunday nights NAB Cup derby between Fremantle and West Coast. Scans to revealed damage to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) which will require a a full knee reconstruction which will ultimately rule him out for the 2008 home and away season. Hasleby left the field by stretcher after his knee buckled under pressure during the third term in what ended up being a 44-point win to the Dockers. The club initially thought it was only a six to eight week injury. A club statement said “The left knee injury sustained in last night’s game against West Coast will now require a full knee reconstruction “The scans revealed damage to the anterior cruciate ligament and Paul will undergo surgery as soon as this can be arranged.” The first round of the NAB Cup has left several clubs battling with injury issues. Sydney Swan Nick Malceski will also require a knee reconstruction after he also injured his ACL. Gary Ablett Jnr will spend a few weeks on the sideline after injuring his calf. Young gun Scott Gumbleton will miss a month after tearing his hamstring on the Gold Coast and Carlton forward Brad fisher will miss six to eight weeks after breaking the base of his thumb.
