The issue caused an uproar when it was reported Carlton offered Judd the captaincy in order to lure him to the club, the problem being Lance Whitnalls career had yet to be decided. Judd, 24, captained the Eagles for two seasons and led the club to the 2006 AFL Premiership. although battling with a groin injury Judd should be available for selection in Carlton’s round one match between Richmond.
