About
As the 2005 AFL season crept closer, two small independent footy forums were trying to make a name for themselves. Both had a tight group of passionate members who loved nothing more than chatting about footy.
In late February, the two merged forming AFL Online and the new forum was launched in March 2005 with three original admin becoming the foundation staff.
One year on the forum was complimented with a handy homepage, providing news, view and other footy information, while the current .com.au domain name was purchased. The forum itself continued to gain popularity and grow at a rapid pace as the forums hit the 1,000 member mark in May 2007.
With over 2,500 members, AFL Online is now one of the largest and most popular AFL forums on the internet with a strong following from footy fans all over Australia. In March 2009 AFL Online was moved to an Australian based server to benefit our primarily Australian audience. The new server now provides a much faster service for our members and also keeps money in Australia by supporting Australian based companies.
AFL Online is now part of Web Media Network, partnered with other popular sites such as Dreamteam Forum and Cricket Central. For any queries or comments about AFL Online, including advertising opportunities, please use the online form on our Contact page.
