Footywrap: Round 6

April 29, 2008

Footywrap puts Michael Voss under the microscope this week after his uninspiring halftime rant about ‘possibly’ coaching the new Gold Coast team on Saturday night. Do you think the AFL might want someone who can pronounce their own name to head up this new franchise? Also, there was Max Hudghton’s bizarre outburst at Matt McGuire during the Saints loss to Port. Paul thought it was very inappropriate pointing out that it happened at their ‘place of work.’ Jeff didn’t have a problem with it. [Read more]

Footywrap: Round 5

April 22, 2008

Footywrap is down at Tigerland this week to see what the mood is like after their draw with the Bulldogs. Surprisingly Nathan Brown in his press conference accuses Brian Lake of faking his injury so as not to have to take a crucial shot at goal with a minute to go. Later in the day he went to a medical centre in Pharan for scans on his hamstring. Elaborate media hoax or serious injury… You be the judge. Also discussed is the dodgy centre bounce that cost the Magpies against the Kangaroos and the demise of the Demons. The AFL asking during the week: what do they stand for? Paul reckons this is a difficult question for any club to answer. [Read more]

Footywrap: Round 4

April 15, 2008

Paul and Jeff give their opinion on Barry Hall’s right hook - according to Paul, the best he’s seen in footy or in life. Also, they enter ‘inverse world’ where Brisbane come back from 8 goals down in the rain in the last quarter to beat Port and Richmond and Carlton are also on the winners list. And finally, some ideas get thrown around for the 17th and 18th AFL teams. The Gold Coast ‘feeling’ has a certain ring to it don’t you think? [Read more]

Footywrap: Round 3

April 6, 2008

This weeks Footywrap takes place on Blue Sunday at the MCG. Jeff and Paul donned the blue ponchos to support prostate cancer awareness and check out the Richmond Collingwood clash. There were plenty of thrills and spills in round 3. Kreuzer’s long awaited debut didn’t disappoint, he looked brilliant for the Blues (although they did lose to the Bombers.) Justin Koschitzke wasn’t quite as impressive. His high five landed in Nick Riewoldt’s eye! Also discussed is a bizarre incident in which Robert Harvey appears to give Jason Akermanis the ‘Squirrel grip.’ [Read more]
