The AFL Half Time Review
June 13, 2007
After what has been a very enjoyable, but at times frustrating, first eleven weeks in the AFL it is time to roll out my mid season awards. No doubt I will be called out by many but as always you are welcome to have your say and give your nominations for the players that you think are deserving of the following gongs. [Read more]
Cracking the Crystal Ball
May 29, 2007
I have been on the receiving end of a deserved amount of criticism following the publishing of my Crystal Ball series. I have little to draw upon to form any sort of defense considering how wrong I have been with my predictions for certain teams in the AFL for season 2007. However, I thought to myself that I must have been correct about at least some of them, well a few of them, well maybe one or two. So it’s grading time, over a third of the way through the season, time to assess whether or not I am currently passing the stringent exam, have I scrambled in for at least half giving me a 50% pass grade? In this Crystal Ball review I assign a pleasing tick or disappointing cross to each of my sixteen foretellings. [Read more]
The Week That Was - Round 4
April 25, 2007
Round four was one of mixed fortunes for me personally. The Saints loss saw me kitted out in Bombers gear on air Saturday Night and admitting my love for Courtney Johns but it also saw a return to form in the footy tips. The team of the week is back with two sets of brothers, I take a look ahead to ANZAC Day and a look back at some of my favourite names from footy. [Read more]
The Week That Was - Round 3
April 18, 2007
Round three of the AFL was another interesting week. My tipping was again spectacularly unsuccessful but by this stage everyone should be getting used to it. As usual I name a team of the week plus I’ll take a look at the issue developing between Des Headland and Adam Selwood and give my take on how rivalry round should be run. [Read more]
The Week That Was - Round 2
April 9, 2007
Round two of the AFL season was another very interesting week of footy with more surprises and some continued good form from the Bombers and the Lions. The Tomahawk made a stunning debut and the umps had a change of opinion on the holding the ball rule. As usual I’ll name my team of the week, take a look at my tips and look at a few other things that grabbed my interest in round 2. [Read more]
The Week That Was - Round 1
April 2, 2007
With round one of the AFL season in the bag it’s time to take a look at who played well, how badly I tipped and a few other general observations from what was a pretty surprising first week of footy. Also, in what will be an ongoing feature, I will name my team of the week from the past weeks action. [Read more]
Coleman Medal Candidates
March 22, 2007
The Favourites:
Brendan Fevola
TAB SportsBet paying $4.00
Heading into season 2007 the reigning Coleman Medalist has only one thing against him in his quest to win back-to-back goal kicking titles, and that is the return of Matthew Lloyd. Everything else is working in his favour. A stronger midfield, the emergence of forward line support, a deeper more efficient ball-winning midfield, a more confident Carlton side in general along with impressive personal pre-season form. As AFL Season 2007 unfolds, opposition sides may begin to adopt the “Jo Beth Taylor†defense and put two men on him in times of desperation! Fevola has averaged over 65 goals per season for the last four years. The “Fev†is my tip for another Coleman, in fact I think he could well boot over 100 this year. [Read more]
