How can Brisbane go backwards this year? How did Hawthorn go backwards last year? Fair go. It’s not an inconceivable concept – especially with the personnel changes over the summer. One could suspect it’ll take some time for Voss to find a settled 22. And it’s not like I dislike the Lions/blindly biased – I’ve stuck up for them on numerous occasions.

History dictates that sides slip, some dramatically, some not so much – if anything my ‘ladder’ for this year is conservative. The Lions strike me as a team who may slip this year, then come 2011 have the potential to surge right back up the ladder. It’s happened before in this game..

Voss has recruited to add depth and have another last gasp attempt at a Flag whilst the few greats from a happier time remain in the Best 22. I’ve seen such ‘inspired’ recruiting backfire before... at my own club no less, so I offer no apologies for erring on the side of caution and believing it won’t be as successful as most expect it to be.

As for the best FF in the comp... As an individual, Fevola > Bradshaw and BrownOla should be > BrownShaw – but I don’t think it’s going to be as easily cut and dry as that, that the inclusion of Fevola (at the loss of Bradshaw) will see a radically more potent Brisbane Team.

To be fair, Essendon have a greater chance of slipping than Brissy, but why would I want to say that

Give it 6 months and I’ll probably look back at this, facepalm, and bow down to Vossy, as a Lions resurgence is proven and they mount a serious challenge.

I actually rate the young guys at the Lions. Redden is one of my favourite youngsters in the league. Rockliff, Polkinghorne, Sheldon etc will keep fans confident of depth/development.

Ps. If February/March Ladder Predictions was so predictable (general consensus ), bookies wouldn't run Final 8 markets. Plus it'd be shit boring.

I can't find my ladder prediction at the beginning of the season I think i would have been close as well.. Minus the obvious in Freo and i didnt rate hawks all that much, i may have found a place in the 8 for them though i can't remember

My big misses were Adelade, Freo, Brisbane, and Sydney

Essendon were probably a little off too

But I picked carlton at 8th

don't worry... I'm not gonna gloat Darc... I was as wrong about the Eagles... I didn't think their kids would stall...

I did however say one prediction I was willing to put money on and that was Carlton to finish above Brisbane...

oh and btw if I recall correctly... Woody also said he didn't believe Brisbane would improve

GC's post up there has instilled a bit of confidence in me. On paper we're a top 8 side in my opinion, and you always see clubs that are building up for something, have a dodgy year, and then come back stronger than even the next. I'm really hoping this is our time for that.

Collingwood and Geelong cant both be in the grand final IIRC. If Geelong win vs Freo then they vs Collingwood in the premilms.
