Sloane hit for six

Young Crow Rory Sloane will miss about six weeks with his injured ankle.

Sloane, who was playing only his second AFL game on Sunday, strained ligaments at the top of his left ankle when his leg was caught under a Fremantle opponent in a tackle.

Scott Stevens (concussion) will rest for the next couple of days before any decision is made on his availability for Sunday’s first home game of the 2010 season against Sydney on Sunday.

Brett Burton (knee) and Chris Knights (foot) are both expected to train fully later this week. Burton, who has been training with the group for a week, expects to be available to play this weekend and Knights is also a chance to be given the all clear.

Graham Johncock, who fractured a bone in his thumb at training last Thursday, will miss two or three more games.

Its a shame for young Sloane but Knights could be back this week. However I expect Craig to give him 1 week in the SANFL as he does for most players. With Bock being the only exception last year.

ADELAIDE captain Simon Goodwin is in doubt for Sunday's clash against Melbourne at the MCG

Goodwin suffered what the Crows termed a corked knee during Adelaide's loss to Sydney last Sunday.

The skipper will face a fitness test later this week to determine his selection for Sunday's MCG fixture.

The Crows have already ruled out ruckman James Sellar, who will miss up to three matches with a hamstring strain.

Utility Scott Stevens, who was concussed in Round 1 and missed last weekend's game, is expected to return against the Demons.

Forward Chris Knights is also set to return to AFL ranks after making a successful comeback from a knee injury in the SANFL on Saturday.

Sellar out is a big loss. Now we have to play Mckernan, Craig or Gutless Griffin.

Stevens and Knights are some big ins. Bye bye Will Young.

Goodwin out is a massive blow as well.

Wow what a list.

Why can't Maric be your ruckmen?

He is already our first choice ruckman but we need to play 2 ruckman otherwise Tippett can't play forward.

Jake Spencer played last week didn't he. So that would be two.

I wouldn't want to rely on Maric for the whole game. Mckernan would be my pick tbh. He like Sellar can be rested up forward and down back. Its swapping a like for a like.

I thought Spencer was a late out? That must have been in Round 1.

No you are correct Darcy Spencer didn't play but Jamar was close to bog. Melbourne look 100x better with a smaller team. It will be a test for the crows away from home this week.

From the AFC twitter:

Patrick has had a CT Scan and been cleared of any neck fractures, so that's good news. He will stay overnight in hospital and have further scans tomorrow. We will know more about Bock (hamstring), Tippett (ankle) and Hentschel (swollen knee) tomorrow.

*Hentschels swelling was on the knee he had the reco on. Which is bad news.

Patrick Dangerfield’s latest MRI scans have cleared him of any serious damage to his neck.

He has a soft tissue sprain and will be assessed by the club doctor when he returns to the club on Wednesday.

Dangerfield was taken from the MCG on Sunday to Richmond's Epworth Hospital after being crunched into the ground in the second quarter.

Initial scans cleared him of any neck fractures and he was cleared of any serious damage on Monday afternoon.

Club officials feared Dangerfield had sustained a serious neck injury in the ugly incident, but scans cleared the 20-year-old of any serious damage.

He arrived back in Adelaide on Tuesday afternoon and said he hadn't ruled out playing against Carlton at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

"When it happened I was pretty concerned because of the way I came down on my neck. I heard a cracking sound … so to get the all-clear was very good," Dangerfield said.

"It's still a bit sore at the moment, but I’ll be pushing for selection this week. It could have been a lot worse, so I'm thankful."

Wingman David Mackay has been ruled out of Friday night’s clash with the Western Bulldogs.

Mackay did not train with the main group on Tuesday night because of groin soreness and the decision to rest him this week was made after a fitness test on Wednesday morning.

Coach Neil Craig said: “The six day break made it hard for him and we didn’t want to risk more damage, so he won’t be available.”

But Nathan van Berlo appears to be over his hamstring tightness and trained well, as did versatile tall Scott Stevens (concussion).

So when do things get better? :(
