I hate how the AFL is stamping down on his half way threw the season. Its unfair that as soon as this incident comes up Baker gets a huge 9 week ban, when the had been other incidents earlier in the season which got barely nothing. It's inconsistent, and if they where going to be cracking down on these sought of infringements then they should have started in round 1.

So I think we have all calmed down now from the shock of 12 weeks which was cut down to 9.
We can all agree that you can't really compare this to the Hall incident because sure that was worse but this was 4 separate incidents and they are always going to add up.
The question I was asking myself today and read the same thing in the advertiser is why wasn't anything done by the umpires when this first happened. Should they be given a please explain for not stopping this? Or should the AFL players know by now that all is caught on camera and if you are going to niggle/harass a player do it at your peril.
IMO i would hate to see this part of our game banished but there is a difference between niggling and targeting an injury. What he did to Johnsons hand was poor sportsmanship. The racial slurring which wasn't prevalent in this incident is something that we can all agree needs to go as well. Besides that i have no problem with most of the other niggling and I think Johnsons elbow was justified.

How often do we see it? Did Chris/Brad Scott and Chris Johnson get anything for what they did to riewoldt. Pretty sure there was a forward who took a swipe at Pears injured hand. Baker wasn't niggling, he was throwing punches hitting johnson in the chin, there's a huge difference imho. You can niggle someone by holding them up, giving them rib ticklers etc, but you don't throw punches into the throat, that's just blatent bullshit.
The Hall and Thompson incident for an example, Thompson was under his skin allllll day. But hall snapped when he took it too far by pushing him over. It was uncalled for. Baker took it too far, and got hit, as well as weeks.
