Last Time They Played In a Final

Western Bulldogs 16.10 106 - Sydney 9.15 69 - 2008 Second Semi Final

Last weekend saw the undermanned Western Bulldogs smashed by the Collingwood Magpies. The Pies doubled the Dogs score, and if not for wayward kicking could have won by alot more. Ryan Griffen carrying a knee injury was only one of the few Bulldogs to make an impact. Rodney Eade will be looking for his team to lift on Saturday night.

Sydney jumped out of the blocks against the Blues, but a poor third quarter let the Blues back in. The Swans looked finished before the home crowd fired up in the last quarter allowing them to grab back the lead and hold on.

Brad Johnson announced his retirement this week, will this give the players the emotional spur they need?

The Swans at the start of the year werent expected to make the 8 but have finished 5th and now have a chance of a preliminary final birth. Can they get past the wounded Bulldogs in Melbourne?

The Swans have a genuine chance here with injuries and form issues for the Dogs but the home ground factor and Brad Johnsons retirement will come into play here. Recent history has favoured the Bulldogs, the exception being the round 21 game and the Bulldogs will be keen to make sure they do not go out in straight sets. They will have too much class and experience for the Swans on the big stage. It's the Bulldogs by 14 points

Anything is possible now that Johno is retiring. In saying that the Swans should be favourites here considering the injuries that the Doggies have at present.

Matthew Scarlett on the 2010 Prelim against Collingwood:"They just annihilated us early and we were a bit shell-shocked. I’ve played for a while and I’ve never seen a side [apply so much] pressure. They just swarm you and it’s like they’ve got three or four extra players out there. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

I can really see the Swannies winning. But I feel uncomfortable ruling out the Doggies. It'll be interesting to see how Bradshaw goes after so long out as well. Hall has already played against the Swans, hasn't he? I haven't paid much attention this season.

Imagine if the Swannies get through then beat the Saints....no one would have predicted the Swans in the final.

Don't forget, also, that the swannies are playing for Kirk and Roosy.
Gonna be an intense battle.

Can anyone explain to me why the bulldogs would rather debut a player than select someone such as Brodie Moles?

What a fantastic game. Gee these finals have been good to us so far. Can't wait for next week, some massive deja vu going on here.
