50m Penlaties?

Has the 50 become too harsh a penalty? Sometimes I find it ridiculous that for the most minor of misdemeanours that 50's are given away. They can change a game, and just because someone's misheard the umpire or tried to play on with the new 'advantage rule' and discovered it wasn't their free kick. Players aren't doing the same blatant things anymore, like pushing someone too hard after a mark or holding onto them for too long. I think these days 20 or 30 metres should be enough.

Announced his retirement today, so I think that means there are no longer and Brisbane Bears playing in the AFL. Think I must be one of the first to notice that, haven't seen it anywhere... :unsure: But I'll claim the stat.

Anyway, dead-set legend. It's a shame his knee got the better of him in the end but he was a real no-nonsense player who got the job done every single week. Depending how long Browny plays on I reckon he will hang onto the Brisbane Lions goalkicking record for quite a while. The last time I ever watched him play live was this game and it was quite easily my favourite memory of his career:

This is beyond a joke. It's no wonder why Brisbane consistently has the highest rate of injuries in the AFL. The Lions have been complaining about the pitch for years, as well as Collingwood and Geelong last year, and now that Ablett and Brennan have specifically blamed the surface for their injuries surely it's time for change. Apparently the groundskeepers are adamant on maintaining the pitch and not going for a drop-in, but when the AFL is earning all the money for the Gabba I think it's time there was a compromise. Absolute crap.
