The Saints came out 15 points win over the Swans at Etihad Stadium after the Swans lead by 27 points 26 minutes into the game. The opening quarter saw the Swans dominate with Jude Bolton and Jarrad McVeigh firing in the middle and some nice ruck work from Darren Jolly. Barry Hall got some confidence straight away in the forwardline with an early goal. The Saints however responded strongly, with the margin at halftime only 8 points. The Saints midfield went onto dominate the second half with Nick Dal Santo, Luke Ball, Brendon Goddard and Leigh Montagna all over the Swans brigade in the centre. Ralph Clarke was one of the Saints best until he got injured just after halftime. Sam Gilbert and former Bulldogs midfielder Farren Ray played well, along with Koschitzke and Milne playing well up forward. Craig Bird was a shining light for the Swans while former Brownlow medalist Adam Goodes was good without being brilliant. The only disappointment for the Saints being Nick Riewoldt having zero impact as Craig Bolton wore him like a glove before the Saints skipper left the ground injured late in the game.
