Sydney’s Adam Goodes has received a one-game ban for rough conduct in Friday night’s Round 1 NAB Cup match against the Cats. Geelong’s Josh Hunt also received a two-game ban for a sling tackle during their 16-point win against the Swans at Etihad Stadium.
Both incidents were assessed as reckless conduct and low impact, while Hunt’s tackle involved a high level of contact. Early pleas from both players saw a 25 percent reduction of their initial penalties.
This two-match suspension cuts short the NAB Cup for the Geelong defender. Goodes is due to return to the Swan’s line-up in their third round match against Essendon.
