New Geelong recruit Hamish McIntosh has suffered another knee injury forcing him to undergo surgery ahead of the 2013 season.

The former Roo ruckman hasn’t had the best luck with injury over the past couple of season and is now in doubt for round 1 at his new club after having fluid drained from his knee.

The 28 year old is still hopeful that the setback won’t impact on the premiership season but his coach Chris Scott is happy to have the ruckman at the club despite his knee troubles.

“We’re still extremely confident that over the medium-term, a period of years, (McIntosh) is going to be a very valuable acquisition,” Scott told the media on Tuesday.

McIntosh was traded to Geelong for pick number 36 during the 2012 Trade Period as the Cats look to replace premiership ruckman Brad Ottens, who retired at the end of the 2011 season.
