Yarran was controversially taken at pick 6 in the 2008 National Draft and ahead of last seasons Rising Star Daniel Rich, who was taken by Brisbane Lions. The Yarran/Rich draft situation will one that will follow both players throughout their careers with fans questioning if their club made the right choice.

No one will disagree that Rich had an remarkable debut season in 2009 and was more than deserving of winning the Ron Evans Medal. Chris Yarran has taken a bit longer to make his mark on the competition, however his 11 disposal and 3 goal game against Richmond on Thursday night put him in the right direction saw him earn a well deserved Rising Star nomination.

Yarran’s forward line pressure would put a grin on every Blues fans faces. Once labeled unfit and lazy, Yarran put a stop to the critics after laying 6 tackles and setting up 2 goal assists.
