On Thursday night Jimmy Bartel was named as a certain starter for the Cats when they meet the Crows on Saturday, after sustaining an ankle injury last weekend. However, it was announced today that Bartel is a late withdrawal from the Geelong team. The Cats have named emergency players as Shannon Byrnes, Tom Gillies, and George Horlin-Smith, with one of them expected to take Bartel’s place.
Sam Fisher was selected in the Saints team to play against the Blues on Monday afternoon. Fisher has been recovering from a hamstring injury from last weekend. Today St Kilda made a decision that it is not willing to risk his injury getting worse if he plays. Tom Ledger has been named as Fisher’s replacement in round seven.
