Today it was revealed that Sam Rowe, 24 year old Carlton ruckman/forward has undergone surgery to remove a tumor after being diagnosed with stage one testicular cancer. Rowe bravely addressed his teammates this morning before his coach, Brett Ratten attended a media conference. Ratten said that Rowe is expected to make a full recovery. He is due to start a six week course of chemotherapy and will likely take the rest of the season off to recover.
Rowe’s teammates and the Carlton Football Club have shown their support and his family in New South Wales have rushed to be by his side through this emotional time. Ratten said Rowe is already looking forward to getting himself ready for the pre-season. Rowe will receive ongoing support from his family, friends, teammates, fans, medical professionals and the Carlton Football Club.
AFL Online would like to take this opportunity to show our support and wish Sam Rowe a speedy recovery.
