Collingwood’s horror run with injuries this season continues with Dale Thomas and Dayne Beams both expected to miss the majority of the season.

Thomas may not return this season after specialists decided that surgery on his injured ankle was the best option. At best Thomas could return late in the season and potentially aim for a return to the senior side come finals time.

Dayne Beams has also suffered a setback of sorts with last years best and fairest winner taking longer than expected to recover from a quad injury. The 23-year-old has had his training schedule scaled back and Pies football manager Geoff Walsh confirmed on Tuesday that Beams would not play before the mid-season bye.

“Our medical team have taken a conservative route because to push him forward and up his training…there was a danger to send him back to square one,” he said “let’s see how things are after the bye, we’re hopeful that’s when he’ll be back playing.” Walsh said.
