It has been a difficult twelve months for Cat Daniel Menzel, both on and off the field. Yesterday, Menzel underwent reconstructive surgery on his right knee. He initially tore the anterior cruciate ligament during the finals series last year, before re-injuring it on his return through the VFL last weekend.

While Menzel begins his rehabilitation, the Geelong Football Club will be busy formulating a variety of options that will allow Menzel to play an active role for the club on match-days. Cat’s coach Chris Scott has commented they will wait to see how Menzel goes in the early stages of his recovery and while he is in good spirits, he will require emotional support in the immediate future.

Menzel will be working towards his return in 2013, but in the meantime Scott wants to find positive ways to keep Menzel’s spirits up for the remainder of the year depending on what he would like to do. Scott obviously has a lot of respect for the young Cat, praising him as a great player and high quality person with a bright future with Geelong.
