Unfortunately Round 1 of the 2011 Premiership season may be remembered for the serious injuries that left several star players licking their wounds.
None more serious than Brent Staker who injured his ACL during Saturday nights thriller against the Dockers. The devastating blow means Stakers season is over before it began.
Lions captain Jonathan Brown is also on the Lions casualty list after a sickening collision with the Knee of a Fremantle player left the star forward with multiple fractures to his face. Brown is expected to miss 8 weeks.
Things didn’t look good for West Coast’s Mark LeCras when he was taken from the ground on a stretcher in Sundays match against North Melbourne. LeCras sustained an abductor injury which will see him miss 7-10 weeks of football.
