Bomber Alwyn Davey accepted a two match ban yesterday for rough conduct during their four point loss to the Swans on Saturday night. Davey’s suspension is the result of contact he made with Sydney’s Dan Hannebery and it will keep him off the field until round 15 when Essendon meets the St Kilda. The Bombers are one of six teams that have a bye this weekend, along with Collingwood, Fremantle, Geelong, Melbourne and Sydney.
Due to the scheduled mid-season bye, Docker Hayden Ballantyne who received a one match ban for striking Tiger Chris Newman on Saturday will not return for two weeks until round 14 against Collingwood. His teammate Ryan Crowley, who made an obscene gesture during the match has accepted a fine of $900.
In other fines, Cat Josh Hunt accepted a hefty fine of $1350 for stepping on Blues’ Eddie Betts’ hand on Friday night. Power’s Danyle Pearce and Hawk’s Liam Shiels were punished for wrestling during the Sunday clash and have both accepted fines of $900.
