Adam Goodes has decided to appeal the one match ban he received on the weekend for rough contact with Power’s Jacob Surjan on Saturday. Goodes will appear at the AFL Tribunal tonight hoping to have the punishment for his feet-first slide into Surjan overturned. Goodes has nothing to lose by appealing the charge and risks no additional suspension time if his ban is confirmed.
If Goodes is successful, he will be allowed to play his 304th game for the Swans on Sunday against North Melbourne Kangaroos in front of his home crowd at the SCG. This will be a record breaking event for the Sydney co-captain and in the club’s history. Worst case scenario, Goodes will have to wait until round five against Hawthorn to achieve this milestone.
