Young Sydney Swan Daniel Hannebery has taken home the round 2 Rising Star nomination for his performance in the what was a 38 point win over Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
The 19-year-old was amongst the best for the Swans on Sunday, gathering a personal best 23 disposals in what was his 7th game at the elite level.
Having played 7 matches last season after completing his VCE year, Hannebery came into the side this week for his first hitout of 2010 and impressed coach Paul Roos but admitted there was still work to do.
“He played very well in the seconds over the last couple of weeks and then showed on Sunday against Adelaide that he has improved on last year.” Roos said.
“He had a real impact on the game. He has areas of his game he wants to continue to work on, there is still a lot of improvement in his game but we’re really pleased with the way he’s going.
“His nomination shows the direction the club is heading. We’ve got some good young kids and hopefully they’ll put pressure on the senior players throughout the year.”
Hannebery joins Carlton’s Chris Yarran as rising star nominees for season 2010.
