Hawk’s Luke Hodge, who injured his knee in Round Six, has undergone scans to determine the full extent of the injury after missing the last two matches as swelling persisted. The results of the scans completed yesterday have shown that the damage is severe and Hodge is likely to miss another three or four weeks. What the club initial believed was a low-grade injury has now been revised to medium-grade and it will have to consider the Hawthorn captain unavailable for another month.
This is not the first time this year Hodge has been sidelined due to injury. He missed the first four matches of the home and away season as he battled a calf injury. It is understandable, considering Hodge’s constant injury woes this year, that the club wants to ensure his knee is completely healed before he makes his comeback. It is hoped that he will have a more successful second half to the year.
