Collingwood skipper Nick Maxwell has accepted a two week suspension handed to him by the match review panel for a level two rough conduct offence after bumping Geelong’s Steve Johnson off the ball on Thursday nights blockbuster.
Maxwell’s bad record meant that if he unsuccessfully contested the charge he would face a three week suspension, the early plea reduced it to just a two week ban.
Collingwood will now face Brisbane at the Gabba as well as the ANZAC day blockbuster against Essendon without its captain and possibly Heath Shaw who will face the tribunal tonight for intentionally making contact with an umpire.
More to come…
