Update:

Jack Viney (Melbourne) has his club’s full support as Melbourne appeals the two match ban Viney received for rough conduct against Tom Lynch (Adelaide).

The Match Review Panel initially assessed the charge as engaging in rough conduct, however many people within the AFL community believe the contact was not deliberate and it couldn’t have been averted.

The Tribunal will announce its decision following a hearing to be held on Thursday night.

Other players who received penalties:

Luke McGuane (Brisbane Lions) – has received a one match ban and 125 demerit points for striking Jeremy Laidler (Sydney).

The Match Review Panel assessed the charge as level two striking.

The initial penalty may be reduced to a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points with an early plea.

David Mundy (Fremantle) – has received a one match ban and 125 demerit points for rough conduct against Scott Selwood (West Coast).

The Match Review Panel assessed the charge as level one engaging in rough conduct.

The initial penalty may be reduced to a reprimand and 70.31 demerit points with an early plea.

Matthew Stokes (Geelong) – has received a two match ban and 225 demerit points for striking Steven Morris (Richmond).

The Match Review Panel assessed the charge as level three striking.

The initial penalty may be reduced to a one match ban and 168.75 demerit points with an early plea.

Brett Deledio (Richmond) – has received a two match ban and 225 demerit points for striking Matthew Stokes (Geelong).

The Match Review Panel assessed the charge as level three striking.

The initial penalty may be reduced to a one match ban and 125.56 demerit points with and early plea.
