With just hours before Friday night football gets under way I better get straight to the point as the first game I’m going to look at is the very game that’s to be played at Etihad Stadium this evening.
In previous years the battle between St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs maybe have been a fight for top ladder positions, how times have changed for these two clubs. They now fight to keep their season alive. Both teams are struggling big time at the moment. Personally I think St Kilda are slowly making up some ground in the fight to keep their season alive, meanwhile the Bulldogs are going rapidly downhill.
I’m including St Kilda in my best bets this week, I fail to see how the Dogs can win after making 6 changes to their side. St Kilda currently has a 5 game winning streak over the Dogs and I expect that to continue tonight. St Kilda should clear the -11.5 line tonight.
The match of the round will be played on Saturday night when Geelong host Hawthorn at the MCG. Geelong still remain undefeated and hard to back against. A lot rides on the fitness of Lance Franklin who was in top form before missing last weeks game with a calf injury. He has been named in the Hawks side but still needs to undergo a fitness test.
If he passes the test I think this could be the Hawks chance to break the 5 game losing streak against Geelong. They haven’t beaten the Cats since the 2008 Grand Final but the two sides have entertained us with some absolute thrillers since 2008. Although Geelong hasn’t lost to the Hawks since then they haven’t won by much, an average winning margin of less than 8 points.
I don’t think I’m game to back the Hawks head-to-head but I’m more than happy to take the +15.5 line for Hawthorn at $1.92. Whatever the outcome let’s hope these two sides can entertain us as well as they have in the past.
For my best multi of the week put in the two bet bets above and also Fremantle to clear the -3.5 line playing Essendon at home paying $7.07.
