If you read my betting preview for round 12 last week I hope you took my advice and got on with my tips. It’s nice knowing that my betting advice can put a little extra money in someone’s pocket from time to time. I have been in some fine form in recent weeks and I’m looking to continue it on for round 13.

I am cautious as to where I put my money this week. The volcanic ash crisis that has seen hundreds of flights cancelled across Australia and left a number of AFL sides stranded in another state could be a factor in this weeks games if they’ve had limited preparation.

The volcanic ash problem might harm some sides chances of winning this week but it could also benefit certain sides who have taken earlier flights this week and have arrived a day earlier than usual. I remember last season Carlton were turning there interstate form around and many staff credited it to the decision to arrive 2 days before their match and have a day to settle in relax before their match.

This is why I’m liking the Dockers this week when they take on Melbourne at the MCG. The Dockers don’t get many chances to play on the MCG and it is a fact that they don’t have a good record playing at the G. It wasn’t long ago that Fremantle ‘choked’ a healthy last quarter lead against Hawthorn at the MCG and went on to lose with barely a fight in the last quarter. They’re back this week against a weaker opponent and looking to redeem themselves on the hallowed turf.

Melbourne will fancy themselves against the Dockers on their home ground and rightly so but the Demons have shown us to be nothing more than an inconsistent, soft team who sometimes shouldn’t bother turning up to games.

At $2.03 head-to-head I think the Dockers will come and take the points and put greater pressure on Dean Baileys coaching future.

Across town on Sunday the Blues will host Sydney at Etihad Stadium. It’s hard to discredit the Blues in the form there in and being a Carlton supporter, why would I want to? If Carlton are the top 4 team they have convinced us all to be then they will beat the Swans at home. Sydney however aren’t a bad side themselves and have a very good record against the Blues. Carlton have won 2 of the past 3 against the Swans but other than that it’s just about been all red and white.

Shane Mumford has been named in the ruck and will definitely test out the likes of Matthew Kreuzer and Shaun Hampson. Carlton defeated the Swans at the SCG earlier this season thanks to captain Chriss Judd who carried the Blues over the line in that last quarter.

If you remember that game then you will know that Kieren Jack was having a good game on Judd before becoming injured. If Jack can restrict Judd once again it could really influence the result of this game.

I suggest taking the Sydney Swans on the +23.5 line on Sunday and hope it’s the tight match the the Swans will want it to be.

If you like the Swans then you will LOVE the $4.75 H2H odds that Centrebet are offering. Only available between 3:30-5pm TODAY!

For my best multi-bet I’ll thrown in the two best bets that I’ve listed above and I’ll have a gamble on St Kilda on the +22.5 line against the Cats tomorrow night. Since the 09 Grand Final the Saints have won 2 out of 3 games against the Cats who will be without Joel Selwood.
