It’s a strange week when the most serious injury to come out of the weekend matches is from an official.

But that was the case in round two when goal umpire Courtney Lai had to be stretchered from the field after a sickening clash with Bulldog Liam Picken.

Lai, who is also a doctor, tore his PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) which will rule him out of umpiring for the remainder of the season.

In other news Collingwood is hopeful that Darren Jolly will make a quick recovery after injuring his ribs in Sunday’s clash against Carlton. Jolly has scans following the match and it listed to undergo a test later in the week but appears unlikely he will play in their match against Hawthorn.
