As Melbourne’s Liam Jurrah returns through the VFL this Saturday against Geelong, he will be joined by debutant Jack Viney. The Demons are confident Jurrah is ready for his first match for the year after battling a wrist injury through the pre-season. Melbourne’s football manager, Josh Mahoney confirmed on the club’s website that Jurrah has been training well over the last few weeks and is ready for the VFL.
Meanwhile, Viney has been granted special approval to join the Demon’s VFL side a year early and is expected to be drafted by the Demons at the end of this year. Viney’s drafting to the senior side will be consistent with the AFL father-and son rule.
On Thursday night, Jack Watts was not named in the Melbourne line-up for this weekend. It has been announced Watts will also play in the VFL match on Saturday.
