Bomber Jason Winderlich has endured a difficult road to recovery over the past twelve months after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament in round four of the 2011 home and away season. Winderlich played one match this year during the NAB Cup, but is now in the process of recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained last month. This latest setback is expected to delay his return for an additional four to six weeks.
Essendon is adamant they will not rush Winderlich back into the side until his body is ready, despite the fact that his progress has been slower than expected. Working with fitness and medical staff and taking it one step at a time, the club is hoping to see Winderlich take to the ground in the second half of the season, if all goes well over the next month or so.
