North Melbourne have been dealt another blow following their one-point loss in the dying seconds of Sunday’s game against Adelaide with Jack Ziebell facing a 3 week ban for a bump on Crows forward Jarryd Lyons.
The bump, which was almost a replica of the one that saw Geelong’s James Kelly banned weeks earlier, was ruled as low impact, reckless and included contact to the head by the match review panel on Monday.
Unfortunately for Ziebell a previous bad record saw a two match ban increased to a three match ban due to the midfielder having been suspended for more then 7 matches in the past two years.
Brisbane co-captain Jonathan Brown is also facing a one match ban for a striking charge. The match review panel determined the hit on Carlton’s Michael Jamison as intentional, low impact and high contact. Brown’s record means he can accept a one match ban with an early plea or risk missing two games should he contest it at the tribunal.
Fremantle’s Alex Silvagni has escaped any penalties after a match day report a thrown out by the panel.
Richmond’s Shane Edwards can accept a $1950 fine for pushing Essendon’s Dyson Heppell into the path of an umpire during Saturday nights Dreamtime at the G.
The match review panel also cleared Darren Jolly over a strike on Swans forward Ben McGlynn, the off the ball strike was ruled as insufficient force to constitute a report.
